Dear Editor, please find enclosed a manuscript on Coherence of a dynamically decoupled single neutral atom. This work is a mostly experimental characterization of different dynamic decoupling schemes for an atom trapped in an optical dipole trap, which holds a superposition state for storing quantum information. We find that dynamical decoupling schemes can extend the coherence time of a qubit encoded into two hyperfine-split states by about two orders of magnitude to about 2 ms with a red-detuned dipole trap. The chosen states can conveniently be interfaced to photons; such schemes may therefore be interesting for quantum repeater scenarios. We feel that Physical Review A at the interface of atomic physics and quantum information would be a very suitable journal for this work, and ask you for your kind consideration of our manuscript as a regular article. With Best Regards on behalf of all authors, Christian Kurtsiefer
